Fairy Tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.                                                                   G.K. Chesterton

To my On Call For Christ mission team

I’ve been pleading for rain for years for lightning, thunder, whirlwinds of power we all conceal a desperate need for healing and we want it NOW. Is this a bad desire? Nope.  Not at all. but lately there’s a lesson that’s been tugging me from my intended course to still and to bring knowledge: God works slow. you see, revival is like the newborn baby’s very first breath the doctors, nurses and parents breathe a sigh of relief Mom & Dad, do they leave the new little life, on to their next thing? Of course not.  A baby is a full-time job.  A baby requires work, pain, money, love, maturity – sacrifice.  And usually life-time commitment.  At least eighteen years or so. Do you know what it means to be involved in conversion?  Discipling and conversion are like fingers and hands. They're useless, separated. Think about it.  What is the Great Commission anyway?  “Go therefore and get everybody to call ...

no longer a slave

Image
"I was a slave to self", he said "to my body my twisted mind my rotting soul chains of deceit snaked in and out of my every moment I wanted women, drugs, booze to bow and serve me and I was so lonely. I didn't see, didn't know, I was a slave to death and sin hell and Lucifer. And so empty. Then the Word reached in Truth pierced through the chains Blood rained from the clouds and washed my sins away til I stopped kicking and screaming I was blind, but He touched my eyes and now I see No longer a slave," - And his dark eyes glowed with joy - "A prisoner of hope you see." I suppose I am putting words into Lecrae's mouth by writing this as coming from him, but when I wrote it I was thinking about the transformation of the gospel from the lowest of places to righteousness and growth and Lecrae has been a huge mentor for me. I have definitely seen these things in his life so I don't think this is too much of a stretch =)

Easter

In the inky darkness a star appeared piercing, proclaiming "born to die" and when the hour came, the sun could not bear to watch darkness reigned hell seemed to prevail while the eyes of the angels were glued to the middle cross "Is this really happening?" but the earth knew something big was hidden shrouded in horror and it trembled in fear and anticipation and let go some of it's dead oh, fitting precursor And while Satan partied the priests scratched their heads what to do about this veil so strangely, so violently torn can't ignore it three days time we wait in four Lazarus had begun to smell this is no legend-exaggerated coma truly dead, and Mary is overwhelmed broken-hearted despair "Mary." His gentle call wild hope greatest joy she's ever tasted this is so much bigger than we dreamed "I have power to lay it down and to take it up again" death works backward This is God! The King of Kings! Oh death, where is your victory? Grave...

Meditations on Psalm 18

He bowed down the heavens rode on the wings of the wind His anger scorched the mountains and the plates of the earth trembled in fear Because He was angry. This is my Father's love. He heard my frightened call in the secret darkness He whispered comforted held healed He spoke they thought it was thunder He sent lightning-arrows after my oppressors they tucked their tails between their legs and RAN He reached His hand down into the waters He drew me up into the oxygen of His delight He is the flame in my little lamp the Sunrise, my morning He arms me with strength for the battle I can run against a troop leap the city wall bend a bronze bow the path may look impossible but in fact it is perfect my shield is unfailing. For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?

Victory is in the air it fills my lungs like the clear evening after a snowfall angel smiles resound their echo in my heart as I stand on the Rock with the shattered chains in my hand the song of the sunrise ringing in my ears The battle is long and weary but the war has already been won
